The beginning of our Route 66 trip

Well, we have started our much anticipated trip! Yesterday we traveled from Michigan to Chicago, and started at the beginning of Historic Route 66. We stopped just at the border of Michigan, right before Indiana. We stopped at Union Pier, and walked out to Lake Michigan. After we left Chicago, we drove part of Route 66 to Springfield, Illinois. Because we left later than planned, and had a long stop in Chicago, we did not explore as much of Route 66 as planned. We pulled into our KOA around 1am.

It has already been extremely relaxing, being able to be away from the busyness of everyday. We are all enjoying the sights, swimming, and playing basketball.
