After a great breakfast at the Holiday Inn, we got on the road. We left Oklahoma and drove to Texas. Our first stop was in Shamrock, TX, at the U Drop Inn. This was the inspiration for Ramone's Body Shop in the movie Cars. Next, we drove to the giant cross in Groom, TX. The cross is 190 feet tall. There are life sized statues of the last supper, 12 stations of the cross, and Jesus on the cross. It was humbling to see it life size. Then we stopped at the Bug Ranch in Conway- VW bugs nose first in the ground. After that, we saw the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo. This was another inspiration for the Cars movie. Then we entered New Mexico and drove through Tucumcari to the Blue Hole in Santa Rosa. (Here is some info on the Blue Hole. santarosabluehole.com/ )
Finally, we drove through Albuquerque, north to Bernallilo KOA,
where we settled in for the night.
